Message:	Dear Honorable MPNAMEHERE: I urge to you to please speed the passing of Bill C-296 (MP, Libby Davies) that would amend the Hazardous Products Act and ban dog and cat fur products, and Bill C-439 (MP, Brian Masse) that would prohibit the sale and import of dog or cat fur and require all animal skins to be labelled. Undercover investigations by several animal welfare groups have revealed that each year, an estimated two million dogs and cats are brutally slaughtered in Asia solely for their fur. Dog and cat fur is used to make trim on coats, toys, figurines and other trinkets. These products are then exported all over the world. Countries including the USA and Australia, and the European Union, have all banned dog and cat fur. But sadly, Canada has no law to prohibit the importation and sale of dog and cat fur. Furthermore, under the Textile Labelling Act, real fur does not have to be labelled, making it difficult for caring consumers to avoid these products. This is unacceptable.
